St. Louis Rams Sean McVay Is Named 2017 NFL Coach Of The Year

The Pro Football Writers of America announced on Thursday that St. Louis Rams coach Sean McVay has been voted NFL Coach of the Year for 2017. McVay is the third coach in franchise history to win the award, joining Dick Vermeil (1999) and Chuck Knox (1973). McVay led a historic turnaround, taking a team that went 4-12 in 2016 with the league’s worst offense to 11-5 and the NFL’s highest- scoring offense. This honor increases McVay’s chances to win AP Coach of the Year next month at the NFL Honors show. In each of the past eight seasons, the winner of PFWA Coach of the Year has gone on to win AP’s award.
