Come see Helena’s 7th Annual Shira Greenberg’s Nutcracker on the Rocks, Saturday, November 30 and Sunday, December 1, 2019 at the Helena Civic Center Auditorium!
Featuring the music of James Brown, Aretha Franklin, The Rolling Stones, Janis Joplin, and more, this community based, rock-n-roll rendition of the holiday classic showcases a unique and energetic fusion of dancers and dance styles, along with a roaring Harley Davidson on stage! Nutcracker on the Rocks leads audiences on a thrilling journey through the decades, artistically blending community dancers with visiting guest artists in creative partnerships and energetic collaborations, seamlessly weaving people of all abilities, including those with disabilities, into the fabric of the choreography.
The 2019 cast includes over 80 community dancers, ages 7-adult performing alongside professional visiting artists from across the country. Local leads include Amber Moon Peterson as Marie, Emma Piskolich as Madame Drosselmeier, Seely Garrett as the Rat Queen understudy, Rebecca White as the Marie understudy. Visiting artists are Sonia Engman from Houston as Rat Queen and JT Weaver from Minneapolis as the Nutcracker.
