Community Trail Work Days with Prickly Pear Land Trust

June 17, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Join Prickly Pear Land Trust staff and volunteers in giving back to the trails that are such a big part of living in Helena! Our community trail work days are fun for the entire family and we always have a variety of tasks to match everyone’s ability level and interests. Working on the trails is an incredibly rewarding experience and good excuse to get your hands dirty! Several trail maintenance opportunities are available throughout the season and we will continue to update this page with the details and project locations as time goes on. Mark your calendar now and plan to participate in the next service event–Happy Trails! https://pricklypearlt.org/trails/

Prickly Pear Land Trust will provide the tools and instruction on trail work, as well as limited supply of gloves and hard hats to borrow, if you don’t bring your own. In order to participate with PPLT on the trails, proper protective clothing must be worn:
– Close-toed shoes
– Eye protection
– Work gloves
– Bike helmet or hard hat – *New requirement for 2019

In addition to protective equipment, these other items are helpful:
– enthusiasm for the trails
– wind/rain gear
– sun protection: hat, sunscreen
– small back pack for water/snacks

We typically work rain or shine. However, we will not work if there are storms in the area that contain high winds or lightning. In the event of unfavorable weather, we will make the determination to reschedule the event 1.5 hours before the scheduled time and post the cancellation notice on our website, PPLT’s facebook page, and in this event page. *All events are kid/family friendly. Call our office with any questions (406) 442-0490 or go to pricklypearlt.org to see other ways to get involved!

Monday June 17th: 5:30 – 7:30
PPLT staff and volunteers will be working on two exciting South Hills trail projects. Project 1: revisiting the Bompart connector trail built in 2018 for a traditional year-after maintenance effort of pulling weeds in disturbed areas, widen narrow sections, rake away slough, and more! Project 2: retreading a section of Easy Rider between 2006 and Archery Range. All are invited to meet us at the Beattie Street Trailhead at 5:30 PM on Monday, June 17.
