The 19th Amendment is almost 100 years old. To celebrate, artist Marilyn Artus of Oklahoma City is constructing an 18×26′ flag with 36 stripes to represent each of the 36 states that took part in the ratification of the 19th Amendment. She’s coming to Helena, Montana to collaborate with artist Jane Waggoner Deschner to sew her stripe for Montana on the flag! Our performing artist is author Anya Jabour.
Passed by Congress June 4, 1919, and ratified on August 18, 1920, the 19th amendment kicked open the door for women to make their voices heard. This project is non partisan- we hope you’ll come and celebrate with us!
