The City of Helena Recycling office is hosting its fourth annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event on Saturday, August 24, 2019. The event will be held at the City of Helena Transfer Station, 1975 N. Benton, from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. City of Helena or Scratchgravel residential permits will be required the day of the event.

This is a great opportunity to safely dispose of household chemicals that can bring harm to adults, small children, and pets. Over time, these harmful products can build up in one’s home and the August 24 Hazardous Waste collection event is a great reminder on ways you can keep your home safe. Examples of hazardous waste include: de-greasers, flammable liquids, bleach, ammonia water, sodium hydroxide, pesticides and poisons, fluorescent tubes, and more. Waste that cannot be accepted are explosives, latex paint, empty aerosol cans, and radioactive materials.

Hazardous waste from businesses will not be accepted at this event. If you own a business and have hazardous waste requiring disposal, please call the City Recycling office at 447-8084 for more information.
