  • Masculinity in the West: Author Russel Rowland in conversation with Aaron Parrett at the Lewis and Clark Library, 6:30PM Wednesday
    • Russell Rowland will be discussing his newest work, “BE A MAN: Raised in the Shadow of Cowboys” with author Aaron Parrett at the Lewis & Clark Library on Wednesday, September 3 at 6:30 pm in the Large Community Room.

“BE A MAN” is a thoughtful memoir exploring what it means to grow up male in the American West. It delves into how his upbringing and that of his parents shaped their family’s approach to challenging emotional issues including death, alcoholism, domestic violence, and personal failure.  As a fourth-generation Montanan whose mother was raised on a cattle ranch in Southeastern Montana, Rowland brings an authentic perspective to this cultural examination. “Rowland hopes that by sharing his stories — even the difficult or unflattering ones — that it will give the strength to other men isolated by anger to seek connection and healing.” (Daily Montanan article)
