Montana’s Carnegie Libraries – Author Lecture and Book Signing

January 15, 2020 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Join author Kate Hampton for a lecture at the Montana Historical Society. “The Best Gift: Montana’s Carnegie Libraries” profiles each of Montana’s 17 Carnegie libraries. Built between 1901 and 1922, Andrew Carnegie provided funding to help communities build their libraries. Today, fifteen of those libraries are still standing.
Author Kate Hampton brings their stories to life and shows how those libraries in turn impacted the people. The captivating photographs by Tom Ferris transport us to the libraries’ doorsteps.
Hampton and Ferris will both be on hand following the lecture to sign books, which are available for purchase at the Montana Historical Society Museum Store.
This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Montana Historical Society.
