The 117th season of concerts in the park performed by the State Capital band will begin on Thursday, June 27 at 8:00 pm in the Memorial Park band shell. Concerts will be performed each Thursday through August 1st under the direction of Robert Loveridge. This band is one of the longest continually performing bands in the country and features 50-60 of the finest local musicians. Mr. Loveridge will lead the band through a wide variety of musical entertainment including marches, classical wind ensemble pieces, Broadway and movie themes, and ballads. The audience will then vote on their favorites from each concert. Those pieces chosen as favorites will be performed during the final concert. Picnic blankets, lawn chairs, and children in the playground will help make the concerts an enjoyable way to spend a summer evening with family and friends.
