Join the Montana Discovery Foundation, Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, Birds and Beasleys, Bureau of Reclamation, Local Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, and US Fish and Wildlife Service for another incredible year of birding in the Helena area. World Migratory Bird Day brings community members of all ages out to the Regulating Reservoir for FREE fun, including guided bird walks, live musical performances, arts and crafts, fun and games, cookie decorating, a Great Blue Heron rookery overlook, and special guests such as the Bookmobile, Aquatic Invasive Species program and Last Chance Community Powwow.
Early Bird Hikes begin at 6:30 am, while the bird festival will be held from 9 am to 1 pm. Kids will go home with a grab bag of goodies and all their handmade crafts. Arrive early if you would like to build a bluebird house.
To get to the site – travel east on York Road, look for the brown fishing access sign and turn right just past the intersection with Lake Helena Drive. Parking will be directed by attendants along the left side of the road.
